ASL Interpreting Services is a locally, woman-owned business providing licensed and qualified sign language interpreters to Kentucky and Indiana since 2011. The agency is owned and operated by Sara Logsdon, a nationally licensed and certified sign language interpreter.
Sara Logsdon graduated from the Eastern Kentucky University Interpreter Training Program at the University of Louisville in 2006. She completed her internship in Northern Kentucky and Cincinnati at Northern Kentucky Services for the Deaf (NKSD), and then began working as a freelance interpreter Louisville, KY. She freelanced in Kentucky and Indiana and obtained national certification from the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf in 2009.
Sara has a strong love for the Deaf Community and a passion for interpreting, particularly in the medical and mental health settings. She also deeply enjoys the new places, people, and community her job allows her to experience.
Monica Romney graduated from Eastern Kentucky University’s Interpreter Training Program at the University of Louisville in 2009. She is a nationally certified interpreter working in a myriad of settings throughout the country, and specializes in mental health interpreting. Monica is dedicated to the development of new interpreters. She is the founder and director of Big Picture Interpreting, an organization established in 2012 that is dedicated to providing mentoring and other programs to enhance services to the ASL community. In addition to directing Big Picture Interpreting, Monica taught as a temporary full-term instructor and served as the Practicum Coordinator at the University of Louisville’s ASL Interpreting Studies Program in 2015-2016. She is a dedicated advocate for the community she serves, and regularly enjoys socializing with the ASL community at various Deaf events throughout our state. Currently, Monica is serving on the board of the Kentucky Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf, an organization that supports member interpreters throughout the commonwealth. Due to her experiences serving the community, Monica is also passionate about addressing the language deprivation crisis that many young Deaf children face, and plans to continue studies to find a viable solution.
When Monica is not enhancing her own skills or helping other interpreters achieve their professional goals in order to provide all clients the most expert services available, she loves to travel, particularly to places with exceptional vegan food and warm beaches.
Monica is excited to join forces with ASL Interpreting Services, a proven advocate of the Deaf Community, as an Affiliate Director.
In addition to interpreting services, we also can provide advice on how to use interpreters, how to set up your event to be more accessible to community members using interpreters, and understanding Deaf culture and related technologies.
Providing good customer service is one of the highest priorities at ASL Interpreting Services. If you are Deaf, an interpreter, or a business owner and have any questions, requests or concerns, please fill out a survey or contact Sara via email or phone. I work to keep myself available, and calls or emails are returned within 24-48 hours (most sooner.) Thank you. I look forward to working with you.
